Sheri D. Coover, Esq.
Attorney at Law

Sheri D. Coover

Sheri D. Coover, Esquire grew up in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Shippensburg Area High School in 1987. After working for Sprint in Quality Control, she was an employee of the Cumberland County Courthouse for six years prior to leaving government employment to pursue law school. Sheri was a single mother raising four children when she graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College in 1999 with an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies, from the Pennsylvania State University in 2001 with a Bachelor Degree in Public Policy, and from the Dickinson School of Law in 2004 with her Juris Doctorate Degree.

While attending law school, Sheri focused her studies on tax law. Pretty quickly after graduating, Sheri started practicing family law and representing clients in complicated cases involving the Cumberland County Children and Youth Agency. Attorney Coover has represented clients in complex divorce and custody cases, in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, Perry and York counties.

In August of 2017, Sheri was hired as a Cumberland County Custody Conciliator. In that position, she conducts Conciliation Conferences in which she assists parties in trying to reach an agreement about what custody arrangement is in the best interest of the Minor Child. In most custody cases, the Custody Conciliator is the first Court representative that the parties meet with. If the parties are unable to reach an agreement at the Conciliation Conference, the Custody Conciliator refers the case for a hearing before a Judge in the Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas. Sheri continues to use her background and experience in family law to represent private parties who are pursuing custody rights and arguing to preserve property that they have obtained during their marriage.

Sheri has practiced criminal law in the past and has represented both the Plaintiff and Defendants in Protection from Abuse cases. She has represented parents who are involved with hearings regarding issues raised by Children and Youth Services and represented parties in expunction hearings to appeal a finding that an individual is an indicated perpetrator of abuse. Attorney Coover has also successfully represented hundreds of clients in appealing a denial of their application for Social Security benefits.

Outside of work, Attorney Coover is an avid sports fan and enjoys attending professional baseball and football games. She resides in the Central Pennsylvania area with her pets and visits regularly with her children and grandchildren who live nearby.
